Sublingual immunotherapy can be considered as a first line therapy for most allergy sufferers with environmental allergies. You do not have to fail medical treatment in order to begin sublingual immunotherapy treatment. Specifically, it may be beneficial for the following patients:
Patients with uncontrolled allergies despite medical therapy
Patients who experience side effects from medications
Patients who prefer to not be on daily or long-term medical therapy
Patients who do not wish to get injections
Patients who cannot see a clinician in person due to time or distance restraints
